fauna and Flora

The abrupt relief of Palanques, with the cingle, the pine forests, the river or its different landscapes, makes it an ideal space for various species of animals. The sky is dominated by the griffon vulture, while in the mountains the Hispanic goat and wild boar are the most numerous species. Goats inhabit the mountains, but they are also easy to spot at sunset, when they often come down to the river to drink.
As for the vegetation, we find in Palanques pine forests, forests with oak, elm, walnut or almond trees, and numerous shrubs and aromatic herbs, such as lavender, thyme or rosemary. But among all the tree species, the poplars near the riverbed stand out. In spring they cause a snowfall, dyeing the river white with their flowers.
